Get ready for a tasty shake-up, Beijingers: New York-based burger, hot dog and frozen custard giant Shake Shack is expanding its presence in China by adding a Beijing branch to its established Shanghai and Hong Kong empire.
The opening of the new restaurant is slated for late 2020, with a menu that will bring fan favorites and Shake Shack’s signature items such as the ShackBurger and the Shack-cago Dog to the Chinese capital.
Ranked seventh in Time’s coveted ‘17 Most Influential Burgers of All Time’ list, the company will place a heavy emphasis on using locally sourced and sustainable products to unite the Beijing community under the banner of love for burgers.

On the move, Chief Global Licensing Officer Michael Kark commented: “After seeing the passion from our fans in Hong Kong and Shanghai, we see tremendous growth opportunity for Shake Shack in Chinese mainland”
Known for its critically acclaimed Angus beef burgers and flat-top Vienna beef dogs, Shake Shack’s drive for all-natural and premium products is something that has become synonymous with the brand that started out as a humble street vendor in Madison Square Park.
Working alongside Maxim’s Caterers Limited, an operator with over 60 years of Asian food and retail experience, we can expect to see many more restaurants in the coming years, according to Kark.
“The strategic partnership with Maxim’s positions Shake Shack for further China expansion with plans for 15 total locations in Beijing and surrounding cities through 2029,” he added.
There’s no word yet on where Beijing’s first Shake Shack will be located, but stay tuned for updates!
