A large museum space largely dedicated to contemporary art, it is the current host of the Shanghai Biennale. The 16,000-square-meter venue was first built as a lamp factory in 1897 during the Qing Dynasty, before being renovated into a power plant. For the 2010 Expo, it received an overhaul once again to become the Urban Future Pavilion.
