1. bastardCROWD
Respawned at their new location at Uptown Records, Basement 6 Collective hosts two artists from Vienna for a multimedia performance and installation. Charge up your phones for this show that explores our relationship with gadgets and the intersection between physical and virtual public space.

2. Post No Bills
Liu Dao pens an artistic love letter to street art and graffiti in all its many forms and meanings. Expect an interesting mixture with their trademark LED style.

3. Blood Red Sun
This somber exhibition explores the lives of China’s comfort women during the city’s occupation by Japanese troops in the 1930s and 1940s. One of the pieces is a map showing the locations of 166 “comfort houses,” with 40 remaining to this day. The first comfort house was established in 1931 on Baoxing Dong Lu and remained open until the end of World War II in 1945.

4. Times of Prosperity: The Imperial Art of High Qing
Chinese imperial art of the High Qing is celebrated in the first exhibition of its kind to occur in the Mainland since 1949, with all exhibits coming from private Chinese collectors. More than 260 pieces will be shown from ten categories including paintings, calligraphy, rare books, silk tapestry, porcelain, jade, lacquer, glass, enamel and red sandalwood furniture. These imperial antiques will explore the spirit of 130 years of prosperity in China. Seminars will be held on August 18 and 19 with ten experts exploring Revaluation and Prospects - the Symposium in Art History of High Qing.

5. Van Gogh Alive
The multi-sensory traveling celebration of the eponymous Dutch artist takes over Taiping Lake in Xintiandi for the summer. Enter an interactive world with 3,000 of Van Gogh's classic works, including Still Life: Vase with Fifteen Sunflowers, The Starry Night and The Café Terrace at Night. 6. Jonone: Solo Show
The Magda Danysz favorite first exhibited at the gallery in 2009 and is back in the city that often serves as inspiration. The New York native is one of the leading figures in the street art scene with a wholly unique style inspired by Chinese calligraphy while bursting with vibrant colors. He was awarded the French Légion d’honneur this January and returns to Shanghai with an exhibition of all new works inspired by the city.
