It seems like just yesterday that Shanghai Shenhua beat Shanghai SIPG to lift the FA Cup in the biggest Derby in the city's football history. Well, it has come around again already, with the Chinese Super League 2018 season kicking off this weekend, and both Shanghai teams in action at home. This season we're partnering with our friends over at Wild East Football, the number one site for all things Chinese football.
In the Blue corner, Shenhua diehard Cameron Wilson is looking forward to another rollercoaster season at Hongkou Stadium, where they begin their campaign against Changchun Yatai tonight. They got off to a rough start with a 4-1 defeat to Guangzhou Evergrande in the Chinese Super Cup earlier in the week, while two AFC Champions League games has seen two draws, 1-1 at Kashima Antlers and 2-2 at home to Sydney FC. Read Wilson's Shenhua preview right here.
In the Red corner, SIPG correspondent Jeff Beresford-Howe takes a look ahead to goings on at Shanghai Stadium. SIPG have stormed out of the blocks in the Champions League; wins against Kawasaki Frontale 1-0 in Japan and 4-1 against Melbourne Victory here in Shanghai sees them sitting pretty at the top of Group F. You can watch highlight of those two wins right here, and read the SIPG season preview here.
(Eds note: Beresford-Howe predicts seven times consecutive champions Guangzhou Evergrande will finish fourth in the CSL, so we would like to make it clear that those are the views of the author, and do not necessarily reflect those of That's).
And if all that isn't enough for you, have a listen to the Wild East Football: The Chinese Football Podcast, where this week they are bravely making 2018 Chinese Super League predictions. What could possibly go wrong? Oh, and next Saturday sees the Shanghai Derby, you can purchase tickets to that right here.
Shenhua kick off their campaign against Changchun Yatai tonight at 7.35pm at Hongkou Stadium. SIPG take on Dalian Yifang tomorrow at 7.35pm at Shanghai Stadium.
