OCT Wetland shares biological resources and water with Shenzhen Bay. As a coastal wetland, it is an important component of the bay ecosystem. It not only is a part of Shenzhen's wetlands, it is also the neighbor of the Hong Kong Mai Po Nature Reserve.
As “the kidney of Shenzhen," OCT Wetland is an important stopover for migratory birds. Tens of thousands of migratory birds arrive at OCT Wetland every year. The area's water, lush reeds, sparse meadows and lush mangroves attract more than 100 species of birds. Of those, 10 species are under national protection, including the Platalea Minor and seven endangered species native to China. Eight species are under provincial protection.
To RSVP your visit to the wetland, visit the official site. Entry after 11.30am and 4.30pm is not permitted.
