The construction of Universal Studios Beijing is officially underway in Tongzhou. Workers broke ground on what will be Beijing’s newest theme park on October 28, China Film Insider reports.

Plans to build the theme park were approved back in 2014. It is currently estimated that it will cost USD$7.4 billion to complete the project. The park is expected to be open to the public in 2020.

Universal Studios Beijing will be built on a four-kilometer stretch of land located in the suburban area of Tongzhou. In addition to the theme park, there will be two resort hotels and a Universal CityWalk, complete with retail and entertainment spaces.

The theme park will boast numerous themed attractions based on popular films, including Kung Fu Panda, Harry Potter, Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem and Transformers, to name a few.

Universal currently has five other theme parks around the world in Los Angeles, Orlando, Osaka, Singapore and Hwaseong.
