Last year Shanghai was finally granted its very own Michelin Guide. And today Shanghai's chefs and restaurateurs waited with bated breath for the release of the 2018 Michelin Guide. Well, the wait is officially over. If you’re curious to see which 30 Shanghai restaurants made the cut, check out our full post here.
Here in Beijing we’re relatively unaffected by the news. But Beijingers may be interested to learn that two of Shanghai's branches of Da Dong Roast Duck made the list (specifically the IAPM and Park Place locations), with one star each. The same branches were also issued one star each in the 2017 Shanghai Michelin Guide.
If you're curious what one star means, it's defined as: "A good place to stop on your journey, indicating a very good restaurant in its category, offering cuisine prepared to a consistently high standard."
The world-famous Peking roast
duck restaurant was first established right here in Beijing back in
1985. While we are feeling pretty proud, we're still hoping that Beijing is granted its own Michelin Guide in the near future.
