Launch of ‘50 Years Belgium-China: Stories of Friendship’ Campaign in Beijing

On September 24, the ‘50 Years Belgium-China: Stories of Friendship’ Video Campaign Launch Event was successfully held at the Belgian Ambassador’s Residence in Beijing, China.

October 25, 2021, will mark the official 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the People’s Republic of China and The Kingdom of Belgium. China and Belgium have held numerous high level visits over the past 50 years, including state visits to China by the Kings and Queens of Belgium. Moreover, the two countries have carried out extensive cooperation across the fields of politics, the economy and culture.

Further deepening the friendly relations between the peoples of the two countries through a series of videos on the theme of ‘50 Years Belgium-China: Stories of Friendship’ was emphasized during the event. The event was sponsored by the Belgian Embassy in China and received strong support from the two countries’ communities, media and enterprises.

Belgian Ambassador to China H. E. Dr. Jan Hoogmartens attended the event and delivered a speech which reviewed the long-standing friendship between China and Belgium. He hoped that more Chinese people would learn about the rich and colorful Belgian culture and customs through the ‘50 Years between China and Belgium: A Journey of Friendship’ series of videos.

Subsequently, the trailer of the series of videos and the first complete video, on the theme of Belgian chocolate, were played. After watching the video, the chocolate master Ms. Sun Li was invited to introduce chocolate to the guests and then invite them to enjoy authentic Belgian chocolate. It was a multi-sensual event highlighting the tastes, sounds and sights of Belgium to the enjoyment of all in attendance.

It was reported that in addition to the video about Belgian chocolate, the series of videos will cover other areas of Belgian culture such as Belgium’s famous beer, professional football, famous cartoons and comics, and pigeon racing, among other things. The above videos will be released on the official Media of the Belgian Embassy in China every Friday until the end of November, 2021. It is hoped that all sectors of society will pay attention to this event.
