Shenzhen is marked to host one of nine new French government visa application centers set to open this year, according to an announcement from the French embassy.
Travelers from the Middle Kingdom to the land of baguettes and fine wine have increased substantially in the past year, with more than 770,000 visas issued to Chinese citizens last year, according to a Shenzhen Daily report. This is an impressive 40 percent increase from 2014.
The announcement from the French embassy noted that the opening of new application centers was aimed at making visa request to the country easier for Chinese citizens (which makes sense). The goal is to have nine more visa centers open this year, up from the present six submission centers.
New visa application centers opened last week in Chongqing and Jinan, although reports have not specified when the additional centers will open. The remaining centers will open in Shenzhen (obviously), Changsha, Fuzhou, Hangzhou, Kunming, Nanjing and Xi’an.
