A Chinese woman has died in a terrible accident after her neck was trapped between the bars of a roadside steel fence, according to Shanghai Daily. To make matters worse, she was eight months pregnant. Police believed she may have become dizzy or fainted, and fallen into the rail. An autopsy has yet to be conducted.
Disturbing pictures of the incident have circulated on Weibo, with users questioning whether it was an unfortunate accident or whether the design of the fence was faulty. The woman's death has sparked a debate about health and safety in China, seeing as her death could have been easily prevented.
Although the police have said her death was an accident, users on Weibo have still been critical. It is not the first time a death like this has happened — in 2013 a young woman in Beijing was killed after getting her neck stuck in a rail, as was an elderly man in 2015, also in Beijing.
