BREAKING: Hongkou Stadium is On Fire (Updated)

UPDATE #3 (March 28, 2017 at 12.00pm CST): QQ News is reporting that the fire happened due to construction at the stadium's rock climbing center. Further details as we receive them.

UPDATE #2 (March 28, 2017 at 11.44am CST): Shanghai Shenhua have yet to release a statement on the blaze. They are set to play Changchun Yatai at the stadium on April 16, but will likely need to select a new venue. No word yet on where (and if) the game will be relocated. 

Meanwhile, netizens are poking fun at a Beijing Guo'an fan spotted at the stadium during the blaze. Read about that here.

UPDATE #1 (March 28, 2017 at 10.27am CST): Firefighters are reporting no injuries or deaths so far in this morning's fire, which was extinguished at 9.30am. The fire reportedly started in the rock climbing center on the second floor.

Dongjiangwan Lu, which is adjacent to the stadium, is closed to traffic, while Exits 1 and 2 on Metro Line 3 are also blocked off. Metro passengers are advised to use Exits 3 and 4.

A fire erupted this morning (March 28) at approximately 8.30am at the home of Shanghai Shenhua: Hongkou Stadium. It was put out at around 9.30am.

The fire is still ongoing. (UPDATE: the fire was put out). There were reports of burning material falling from the stadium. No word yet on what has caused the fire, but it looks like it will do serious damage.
