About 12,000 people in the province were relocated because of Merbok. The storms also hit 13,000 hectares of farmland and led to the collapse of 32 houses.

According to the Southern Metropolis Daily, the storms brought by Merbok caused widespread power outages affecting 155,000 people. As of June 14, power had been restored for more than 90 percent of them.
