Rejoice, Guangdongers: you can finally enjoy a typhoon-less weekend.
The period of weekly tropical storms in the PRD has apparently ended. Earlier this week we warned about a possible impending storm, the 17th this year, off the coast of the Phillipines and heading west.
Tropical depression Guchol, also known as Kiko, left the Phillipines yesterday and is currently projected to land in Fujian province. It'll have a negligible effect on Guangdong: Shenzhen's Meteorological Bureau states that the city may see clouds and brief showers or thunderstorms over the next couple days.
From the Hong Kong Observatory's live storm tracker
Although Guchol temporarily leveled up to tropical storm yesterday, it's now back to being a slightly weaker tropical depression. According to an update at 8am this morning, Guchol is around 500 kilometers to the east of Shenzhen, traveling northward at around 20 kilometers an hour and weakening as it goes.
Besides heavy rain, Guchol doesn't seem to have done much damage in the Phillipines. As the storm moves towards Fujian, hopefully it stays that way.

Both the Hong Kong Observatory and the Zhejiang government continue to provide live tracking for the tropical depression.
Meanwhile in Shenzhen and Guangzhou, the forecast for the next seven days looks rainy, if harmless.
