Ever carried rolling luggage around town and thought to yourself, "gee, I could really use a dedicated wheeled suitcase sidewalk right now"? Well then you're in luck, because it's now a thing.

Authorities in Shanghai's Yangpu district recently debuted 'wheeled suitcase only' sidewalks to fill this apparently very real niche. The lanes are aimed at improving sidewalk traffic for the students at Fudan University and University of Finance and Economics constantly forced to drag suitcases around campus.

Each new lane features a tweaked corner radius to make turning corners smoother, allowing students with suitcases to easily walk to bus stops and metro stations.

But like pedestrian lanes, bike lanes and 'cell phone only' lanes, it remains to be seen if they'll actually be heeded.
