While we’re all accustomed to the oppressive rain that plagues Guangdong province from time to time, this morning we saw some particularly brutal rainfall in cities around the Pearl River Delta.

Below, we’ve rounded up some shocking photos of the wet weather and floods that more than likely ruined many South China residents’ morning commutes both yesterday and today.

Our friends in Dongguan were also in for a rough morning...

Meanwhile, folks in Zhuhai had a red weather alert in effect yesterday morning.

While some were hunkering down at home to avoid the rain, one couple in Zhuhai decided to take advantage of the flooding by snapping some aquatic wedding photos (VPN off):    The rain was so intense that one fish was spotted flailing around on a street in Shenzhen (VPN off):

Guangdong Meteorological Service Center had some fun with the shape of yesterday morning’s weather forecast, referring to the recent bout of rain as ‘Dragon-boat water’ (龙舟水).

Unfortunately for those averse to water, this week heavy rain is expected to hammer both Shenzhen and Guangzhou, so be sure not to leave the house without your trusted umbrella (and watch out for umbrella thieves, they’re out there!)

While all of these images were posted yesterday and today, That’s would like to stress that we cannot independently verify when and where each photo was captured.
