A 'Mercedes Benz' with no license plate was stopped by police on February 6 in Fuzhou, Fujian province.

Upon inspection, police realised that the make of the car was BYD, a budget Chinese brand. The driver confessed that he deliberately disguised his car with a Mercedes emblem in order to give himself a "sense of superiority".

The man paid the price for his vanity. His driving license was confiscated and he was fined 1,700 yuan ($280) for driving without a license plate and illegally refitting the car.

In December, we reported that drivers were sticking CCTV decals on their cars to avoid getting tickets
