Guangdong is seeking ways to clean up the acts of their massage parlors, too often epicenters of prostiution and the targets of increasingly harsh government crackdowns. As part of proposed changes to regulations massage parlors across the province will soon be asked to comply with the following guidelines:
· can not provide services within any enclosed rooms
· can not set dividing partitions or screens
· can not turn off lights
· can not have non-transparent doors
· can not engage in prostitution
In addition to this, massage parlors must register the identification of any clients who visit between 2:00am and 8:00am, and then log in their details with the local Public Security Bureau.
Fines ranging from RMB 10,000 to RMB 30,000 will befall any massage parlors, saunas, hydrotherapy, Chinese manual health therapy and reflexology centers that fail to comply, according to the report.
