While most people who walk into plastic surgery clinics might bring along celebrity magazine cut-outs, all Zhang Yidong had to do was pack a Mao-era propaganda poster.

Zhang, a star volunteer from Anhui Province, took this series of portrait photos after recovering from a recent bout of plastic surgery undergone to look like his life-long hero: historic PLA pinup boy Lei Feng.

Donning the same army kit and imitating Lei's gestures, Zhang says that he’s also planning to legally change his name to Lei Feng when he returns to his hometown.

“This is my tribute to him. I hope that everyone else in China can get the same ‘Lei Feng face,'” he said. “Please call me Lei Feng in the future, or 'Lei To the End.’” Whatever you say, comrade.
