Good news for folks who hate being woken up by the blaring sound of air raid sirens: this year’s test has been canceled in Guangzhou!

The test was originally scheduled for September 15, China’s National Defense Education Day, but was canceled due to the impending arrival of Typhoon Mangkhut. While we expected the test may be rescheduled, it appears the 2018 air raid siren test has been completely scrapped, according to a public announcement released by the Guangzhou People's Government.

The test went ahead as planned in Shanghai on September 15, with sirens sounding across the city from 11.35 to 11.58am

Shenzhen held their drill yesterday from noon to 12.15pm.
