Signed
to the legendary label R&S, Paula Temple has carved out a
reputation for her hybrid live/DJ sets that recently thrilled at
London’s Converegence Festival and Movement Detroit. Known for her
cutting edge remixes of The Prodigy, Peaches and The Knife, Temple will
headline promoters Say Yes’ Asia Reloaded 2017 tour.

Feb 23-25: Rio Carnival
It
might be winter, but UNÏCO Shanghai is heating up the Bund with this
three-day festival full of colors, music and dance. Things kick off on
Thursday with the launch of UNÏCO’s new weekly event, Lady Ipanema,
which celebrates Brazilian sounds from bossa nova to baile funk. Opening
night features a parade of Brazilian samba dancers, live percussion
performances and free flow tropical punch for the ladies. Friday’s
Chic’n’Pop party will have a Carnival Grooves theme and Saturday’s
Electropical night promises to be a rowdy farewell to the carnival.

Feb 24: Jozef K
The
DADA favorite and Manchester house stalwart has enjoyed a stellar year
that includes appearing on Pete Tong’s essential mix series. He returns
to Shanghai with support from Will A and the Minimalist crew.

Feb 25: Fasching
Starting
every year on November 11 at 11:11am, the South German carnival lasts
several months culminating in the last six days, which is dubbed the
‘Foolish Season.’ Per tradition, people dress up in fanciful costumes
and unleash their boisterous selves at wild parties. Paulaner continues
to bring the festival to Shanghai by bringing the annual costume party
to its Expo location for the first time.In addition to an
all-you-can-eat buffet full of Bavarian favorites, there will be free
flow of Paulaner beer and house wine, as well as a performance of German
'schlager' songs from the live Filipino band, Hype. Prizes will be
given to the best costumes.

Feb 25: Peace Hotel Swing Dance Ball
The
former Cathay Hotel channels its legendary past with this swing dance
party. Travel back to 1920s Shanghai for this celebration of the city’s
first jazz age. Dress code: vintage formal.

Feb 25: Fabrizio Mammarella
Italian
Dance Wave Asia presents the founder of acclaimed label, Slow Motion
Records. Part of the new generation of producers redesigning the
boundaries of house, Mammarella has collaborated with Rodion (who helped
shape Beijing stalwarts Nova Heart’s debut EP), is a musician in the
Clap Rules Project and has rocked clubs all over the globe. Altieri
supports.

Feb 25: Futurological Congress
The Mansion kicks off this new Berlin techno party series organized by Stranger In the Night, whose Destroy All Monsters label is based in Shanghai and Berlin. Expect a focus on contemporary techno with a distinct Berlin touch.

Feb 25: Timmy Trumpet
The
Australian house DJ and producer has become an Ibiza icon thanks to his
rousing live shows, where he plays live trumpet solos over dance tracks
he’s DJing.
