Tracie Cheng: WINDSWEPT
Natural phenomena with a playful and dynamic quality of space and movement are what characterize Tracie Cheng’s paintings. She is interested in patterns, forms, and fractals in nature, creating ethereal spaces that refashion typical perspective. Her paintings are full of richness, with fluid layers and interweaving lines forming a textured story.

After Us
This group exhibition features an international group of artists, while focusing on emerging Chinese artists. The highlight is Lu Yang, whose character “Uterus Man” has the extraordinary ability to use the womb as a weapon. Chen Zhou’s intimate portraits of Shanghai overlap seamlessly with winding WeChat dialogues, and Lin Ke’s videos follow his ramblings online.

Zhou Li: Shadow of the Wind
This exhibition concentrates on Zhou Li’s new abstract paintings from the past two years. The paintings and installed sound build a spatial field based on the heart as the core of the show. The lines and spaces in Zhou’s works feel as if they keep moving, meaning the audience can’t stay at a fixed distance to fully appreciate the artworks.
Until June 4, Yuz Museum.
Meng Yangyang: Legato
This is Beijing based artist Meng Yangyang’s first solo exhibition in Shanghai. The new series of paintings is Meng’s latest attempt to retrieve herself and return to a natural way of thinking, to re-discover those tiny cosmos behind ordinary objects.
Until June 4, Gallery 55.
Song Xi: My Existence is the Best Resistance
This is Shanghai based artist Song Xi’s second solo exhibition at Gallery 55, the same spot as Meng Yangyang's show. Song believes that the human body confronts the existing social forms, power structures, knowledge and language amid constant social changes and value updates. The exhibition comprises four pieces of newly completed installation and video works specially created for this show.
Until June 4, Gallery 55.
Liu Peng: The Spectacle of Pixels
This is Liu Peng's first solo show in Shanghai. The Impressionists dedicated themselves to capturing the ever-changing landscapes around them. Today contemporary artists use cyber space as their environment, and Liu often draws inspiration from online pictures. He re-uses and refines these pixelated images, applies arbitrary colors, and incorporates his personal emotions to create his own ‘impressionist landscapes.’
Until June 5, AroundSpace Gallery.
