Core Sample: Leelee Chan Solo Exhibition

Hong Konger Leelee Chan actualizes sculptures from found objects, transforming industrial materials into engaging artworks. From discarded product waste like pink foam packaging blocks, to nuts and bolts, the collection of sculptures, paintings and collage works, the exhibition represents the last three years of Chan's development in a show exploring the interplay between closure and exposure.

Social Geography: Ten Journeys with a Camera

This group show featuring 10 Chinese photographers captures a range of regions and perspectives, cataloging the ways in which each sees the world as it stands. With over 200 works, they range from humorous to strange and sentimental in a collection of images representing 10 different takes on one country.

Heteroglossia

Closing this weekend, Heteroglossia brings together a group of practicing artists from across the world with different backgrounds and perspectives. The exhibition name, meaning the presence of two or more voices in a text or artistic work, speaks to its installations, moving image, performances and other less conventional forms of art exploring various elements of contemporary culture and society.

The Eternal Thread: Louise Bourgeois

You've got one more week to hit the West Bund for The Eternal Thread, the first large-scale exhibition in China by French-American artist Louise Bourgeois. Considered one of the most important artists of the 20th and 21st century, this retrospective offers insight to the artist’s entire career. Having been born into a family of tapestry restorer, sewing, stitching and joining and prevalent concepts throughout her art which are represented through a mix of different media.

La Dépense: Francis Alÿs Solo Show

The Belgian artist's work raises questions about anthropology and geopolitics, in a title that translates to "consumption" and refers to the theories of French Philosopher Georges Bataille. With photographs, video work and paintings, this exhibition focuses on capturing and portraying physical interactions with the world around us.

LLIMIIINALL

The word liminal refers to transitions and the spaces in between - time marked by the crossing of thresholds. This exhibition from Indonesian art collective, Tromarama, engages with the way we exist between physical and digital, utilizing algorithms, video, sculptural work and design of physical space to explore the transitory nature of our time and place.
