Shenzheners recently welcomed the news that five new subway lines will be added to the city's network by 2022, part of a larger plan to achieve the world's longest metro system by 2030.
Now, a projected route of soon-to-be Line 12, featuring 33 stations, has been released. Spoiler alert: it's going to make Bao'an residents' lives a lot easier.
The northernmost stop extends all the way past the Bao'an Airport, while the bottom section adds another subway line to the Shekou area in Nanshan District. Line 12 will pass through existing stops Sea World (Line 2), Nanshan (Line 11), Taoyuan (Line 1), Airport East (Line 1) and Fuyong (Line 11), in addition to eight future interchanges.
According to Shenzhen Evening News, Line 12 is planned to be as fast as Line 11, which was the country's speediest when it first opened last June. Line 6, connecting Shenzhen to Dongguan, will also be high-speed.
Construction on Line 12 will begin at the end of this year. The new 40.5-kilometer metro line is expected to open to the public in 2022.
