After opening its doors in May, Salt & Talk has been a hotspot for both locals and expats alike. The Sea World upscale casual restaurant was conceptualized by Tony Zhang, who had recently returned from Australia after 16 years. Being a big foodie, he came back to Shenzhen (a place where he spent his formative years) and found there was a lack of good Western food he had abroad.
At Salt & Talk, North American cuisine is the focus. Pizza, pasta, burgers, sandwiches and dessert are crafted by Canadian chef, Aaron who has been in the culinary industry for 20 years. We had a chance to sample the menu and highly recommend checking out their signature Smash Burgers, tuna tataki, fish tacos, pizza and even the milkshakes.
The restaurant is perfect for special occasions or large groups. However, if you tire quickly of Top 40 music playing overhead then head to the outdoor patio for a more relaxed atmosphere and dog-friendly vibes.

Next year, Tony plans on starting Sunday afternoon Texas-style barbecues on the patio. He also may deviate from the core menu by adding dishes like shrimp and grits, crab cakes and lobster rolls – so stay tuned!
